Fox's "business news" guy, Neil Cavuto, continued his favorite meme of late today (June 19, 2008) when he hosted an ex-Clinton supporter who is now championing John McCain. The 1932/26 realignment driven by FDR, for example, didn't shake lose the Southern Dems who had virtually nothing in common with the rest of FDR's coalition. It took Nixon's Southern Strategy and Reagan's 1980/84 realignment for those people to begin to find new homes, and I've long suspected that it would take another realignment for that process to end.
