The Warm Up and Warner
Senator Bob Casey from Pennsylvania got the crowd hyped with a "Four More Months" chant that's still buzzing around the arena and- I bet- we'll be hearing more of in the next couple days. He pushed hard on Biden as a native son of Pennsylvania- in case anybody needed a bit more convincing in the Keystone state. He was followed by a true hero of the equality and labor movements, Lilly Ledbetter, speaking on Women's Equality Day. She got huge cheers for her landmark discrimination case and big bo readLilly Ledbetter of Gadsden, Alabama...HELL YEAH!

4:01 CT: We’re here and ready to go. 4:17: Mayor Shirley Franklin of Atlanta calls the meeting to order. And time for prayer, which conveniently recalls most of the Democratic platform. The colors are presented, the pledge of allegiance is stated, and the national anthem is sung. Not to offend little kids, but the National Anthem isn’t one of those things that sounds better when sung by a children’s choir. 4:23: This segues awkwardly into a hip-hop video featuring DC. It’s for Eleanor Holmes readSpin Control 2.0: Where the heck are our delegates?
Wondering where the Washington and Idaho delegations are hanging out during the convention? Might be hard to spot them in those shots from the podium. Idaho was supposed to be up front, but got moved to the back of the hall to make room for veep candidate Joe Biden's home state. (See previous post here.) They're only slightly behind where Washington state started. Facing out from the podium, Washington is back and to the right, between Texas and Hawaii. Idaho is next to the District of Columbi read

FAA Computer Glitch Delays Flights
Some sort of computer failure in Georgia slowed down the filing of flight plans to the FAA today, which caused major delays at some major airports - particularly Atlanta, the nation's busiest. I've been trying for hours to analyze how big a deal this was. CNN was all over it, but then CNN is based in Atlanta. The Associated Press refers to "mass delays," but nobody has the full details yet. And I'm still not quite clear on exactly what went wrong.
