After a misunderstanding on last night's episode of "American Idol," RYAN SEACREST spoke out publicly in support of judge PAULA ABDUL on Wednesday night's show. Seacrest said, "The rumors? They're not true. She's part of our family. And we love her." He went on in a lighthearted tone, "And I think [Judge] SIMON [COWELL] still wants to hook up with her." "American Idol" Results April 30th, 2008 This is one of those incredibly rare nights when the question of who is getting voted off is far less interesting than other stuff — specifically, how they handle the Paula disaster from Tuesday night. Theories and speculation have flown all day — it's been blamed on bad notes, confusion re the dress rehearsal, Paula's spaciness (whatever the reason for THAT), even Simon confusing Paula with whispers in her ear. by BAR executive editor Glen Ford The world views of Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Sen. Barack Obama were incompatible from the start, just as the mythical American Manifest Destiny world view is directly at odds with the facts as perceived by Blacks in the United States. Wright finally forced Obama to choose sides in the conflict of racial/historical visions, and in doing so, performed a service on behalf of clarity. Obama lashed out in a startlingly personal manner, calling Wright a “caricature readSo I Was Wrong
So I was wrong. The Kansas City Chiefs did not make a draft day deal with the St. Louis Rams. I had a hunch that the Atlanta Falcons would select Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan with the third selection of the first round in the NFL Draft that was held this past weekend. But I had a stronger hunch that the Chiefs would trade up to get Ryan before Atlanta could pick. Didn't happen. The Chiefs, however, get defensive tackle Glen Dorsey from LSU. Which is a great move for the Chiefs. In case y readWhere did that name come from?
Filed under: Business AOL Money & Finance has a feature on the origin of some famous brands named after people. Here are some of the ones that I found particularly interesting: Arby's stands for R.B., the initials of the Raffel Brothers. Many people think it stands for roast beef. Taco Bell was founded by Glen Bell. I thought they just liked the bell logo. Who knew? Baskin-Robbins was a combination of two ice cream stores, one started by Irvine Robbins and the other by Burton Baskin. Thi readChiefs Draft Blog - Day Two
Sorry for the delay in getting back to this blog. Apparently MVN had some issues late last night, and I was unable to publish anything. Since I forgot the first day of the draft only went two rounds anyway, I don’t think I missed anything else the Chiefs did on Saturday. This gives me the chance to recap the draft thus far, and the Chiefs are about 3-4 picks away as I ‘m writing this - so we’ll get back to the blog. Right now, I almost feel like a proud new father. CNN interviewed a friend Posted on April 30, 2008 by skywindows I can’t really call him a friend…what do you call the relationship you have with someone online that you talk to in an online forum? Friend is the best description. I met Mark when I joined a Chondrosarcoma support group to meet others who are suffering from Chondrosarcoma, the cancer that my daughter has. Mark was going through a difficult time. He knew the tumor in his neck was growing, and he had no insurance because he was read256 Bit

The good news is that we've stomped out all the little hillbilly labs. The bad news is that we've still got "superlabs" operating right across the border. In the first three weeks of April, the feds seized about $30 million of meth, a good chunk of which was bound for Kansas City, McClatchy reports. read

And so Day 2 comes to a close. One of the biggest problems with this conference is that at any given time I will want to attend 2–3 simultaneous sessions. Fortunately, the open spaces format allows anyone at anytime to float (I think the term is “be a butterfly” or “be a bumble bee”). I did this in a few sessions to maximize the amount of sessions I could attend. We started out at Ruby’s Diner for breakfast. I arrived at the event to see people looking at the schedule wall. An ode to the knuckleball, a truly screwy pitch. Few pitchers are able to throw the knuckler, giving those who can a cult-like status. It generally requires very large fingers. As Hall of Famer Willie Stargell explained it, "Throwing a knuckleball for a strike is like throwing a butterfly with hiccups across the street into your neighbor's mailbox". Yankees third baseman Wade Boggs once used the knuckleball to retire the side in an inning during a rare appearance on the mound. When he's got h readButterfly with hiccups
From ESPN: Jim Caple visits R.A. Dickey, acolyte of the mysterious and increasingly scarce art of the knuckleball. Dickey is not just a guy trying to make the majors on a freak pitch, he's also a freak of nature. In 2006 I used my last-round designated-wacky pick on him in our fantasy baseball draft; although I didn't really expect him to tear up the American League, I suffered real pangs of sympathy when he made the worst start in living memory and was hustled down to Triple-A faster than you c read
